I'm starting to not want to go to D.C. this summer. Part of me still wants to, but the other part is so damn wrapped up in this Disney College Program that I'm beginning to do something that I haven't done since last summer: doubt that I want to become a lawyer.
Instead of dreaming about wandering around the Mall and taking the Metro to work, I'm dreaming of living in Orlando for months, wearing Mickey ears, and making magic for people.
Hopefully, I can figure this out and decide if I want to withdraw from Washington or stay the course and be there this summer and do Disney next spring.

Longing for Fall 2011.
I was accepted in the Honors housing on campus! I hope to get through as much of the program as I can, but I'm starting two years late so I don't see that happening. But anyway, I was put in an apartment with one of my good friends and a few other people. My hope in applying was to get away from the all-night partiers that live next to me and into an environment that is focused heavily on academics. My wish couldn't be stronger at this very moment.
Last night was, of course, Thirsty Thursday. The night where every self-respecting, law-abiding college student prays that their neighbors dress up, pre-game, and get out as soon as possible. My luck was little last night. The girls on one side were out before 9 and were quiet before then while getting ready. The other girls seemed to be trying to make up for the silence. They had their door propped open, (bad) music playing loudly, and various friends running down the stairs to scream about wardrobe malfunctions.
A side point. I had a morning run scheduled for this morning. Key word being "had." My alarm clock is set to go off at 5:40am, to give me time to brush my teeth and get dressed so I can get out by 6am. The night before these runs, I try to get to bed before 10:30.
Well, I had a new episode of Bones to watched at 9. Unfortunately, I could hardly hear most of it thanks to the music pouring out of my suitemates' room in to the hallway and through the wall between our rooms. I climbed into bed at 9:30 and watched the rest of the episode, turned up far too loud, from there. I fell asleep around 10:45. Didn't last long. Up again at 2 because they showed back up to change outfits and go out again. Back asleep. Up again at 4 because they were returning for the night and had to scream goodbyes to each other.
Needless to say, I was dreading that annoying beeping that signaled morning at 5:40. So, I hit random buttons on the clock, hoping that one would be the "snooze" and would give me another five minutes to mental prepare myself. Back to sleep. Wake up, wondering why the alarm clock has not beeped at me again. Check the time. 6:25am. Lovely.
Now, I've missed my run. I thought about just going out then. It was only supposed to be a 2-miler and I can do that in 25 minutes, but my whole mojo was thrown off. I'm hoping that I'll get home early enough this afternoon that I can jump on the treadmill and do it there. Or, I'll run the 2-miles tomorrow morning.
I cannot wait until I'm with people who understand the real reason we are in college - to learn and graduate with a degree. We are not here to party and drink, especially since you (speaking to my suitemates) are only nineteen and twenty, which is, wait, let me check, UNDERAGE. Just sayin'...

Castle.
Okay, I'm a fan-girl for most of my favorite television shows. I often "ship" characters. But Castle is a special creature. Out of all my shows, this easily claims the title of FAVORITE.
Some background. I discovered Castle on a whim. I had watched all the episodes of my then-favorites and was trolling the internet for a new series. I had seen the title "Castle" before, but had dismissed it as some sort of medieval show. Thank God I had the sense to look at the wikipedia page for the show. I was hooked from the beginning.
The premise is simple. Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion), a best-selling mystery author, has just killed off the lead character of his novels, finding himself bored with writing. After a serial killer emulates the murders from his books, Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) questions Castle. He generously offers his services for the remainder of the case, figuring he would have special insights to the murderer's mind. Beckett puts up with his antics and insane theories for the case and thanks him after closing it. Castle, however, has a different idea. He wants to use Kate Beckett as the muse for his next lead character and pulls strings to be allowed to shadow her for inspiration. And so started the most amazing, underrated television show I have discovered. Tagging along in the cast are Detectives Kevin Ryan and Javier Esposito (Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas), Captain Roy Montgomery (Ruben Santiago-Hudson), and Medical Examiner Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones) in the Twelfth Precinct. Castle's show-biz mother Martha Rodgers is played by Susan Sullivan and his daughter Alexis, played by Molly Quinn, round out Castle's family.
Now, I don't often have a favorite episode in my list of shows. But this week's episode has taken the cake. It is the second of a two-part episode, titled Countdown. I've watched it three times over the past two days and it still takes my breath away. The most stunning part happens within the first fifteen minutes of the show.
****************SPOILER ALERT****************
Our dynamic duo is trapped in a freezing steel storage crate. Since they were thrown off the task force formed to find a dirty bomb set to go off in New York City, no one is missing them. If they are not found within a few hours, both will freeze to death inside the crate.
As the rest of the task force focuses on finding the bomb, Castle and Beckett huddle against a wall to conserve their heat. Moments before passing out, Beckett thanks Castle for being there with her.
It is the next scene, one that lasts less than 5 seconds, that really gets me. As Castle passes out, his cheek resting on Beckett's head, the normally cheerful logo appears. Yet, this time, the NYC skyline shot and logo are bathed in a pale blue light and the soft music from the preceding scene continues over. Again, I have seen this three times and it is still one of my favorite moments in Castle's three seasons.
However, I do have one qualm with the series. Beckett has nearly admitted her love for Castle twice. Castle has nearly spat it out once. They shared a kiss, be it part of an undercover operation or not, and that can't be taken back. JUST GET IT ON! {Though I do have hope, since Castle writers on Twitter have promised that they will get their moment and to be patient.}

Better News.
On Thursday, I was accepted into American University's Summer Internship Program for 2011!! I'm officially in their Law and Justice program. So, from June to August, I'll be living in Washington, DC!!
Further amazing news, I'll be living with a high school friend that lives in DC!! She goes to Georgetown, but spends every summer there as well so she and some of her friends rent a townhouse for the summer. I'll be subletting! It's nearly a 3-mile walk to campus for my seminar, but I'm crossing my fingers for a bike to cut the hour-long walk down to a 30 minute bike ride. We'll see... Mostly, both me and my friend are super excited to spend the summer hanging out and interning, since she'll be at the FBI for the summer.
(in response to my last post, my choice of movie {P.S. I Love You} is definitely giving me a good excuse to tear up. hopefully watching a sad movie will get all the sadness out of me for tonight...)

Letter To Myself.
Dear Logan,
I realize your parents just drove off. You feel like they have abandoned you. They get to go back to Massachusetts and you are stuck here in Rhode Island.
But, listen to me. You have gotten through this before. You were fine last week, and while I understand part of that may have been because you didn't return home, you still survived being "abandoned."
And you understand that you will be happy once you get back into the swing of classes. Tomorrow is going to be hard. Mondays have always been hard for you after a weekend at home. Be prepared for it. You'll get up and wish you were at home. You'll go out and run and not think about any of it since you'll be concentrating on keeping warm and running up that goddamn hill. Classes will be a drag. The hours between class and orchestra will be the hardest. Orchestra will be a moment to concentrate on something else. And then, Castle's on, so you can fall asleep watching your favorite on-screen team.
And the rest of the week will be hard, but if you survive Monday, it'll be easy.
For now, breathe. Read some of those runner's quotes. Do your new Zumba DVD if you don't feel like facing society at the Zumba class. Curl up in your pajamas and watch a Disney movie online. Do your homework for French. Smile. Cry if you really need to.
And as much as it hurts, don't think about home or your siblings or your parents. You can survive a week without them. You know, somewhere in that intelligent brain of yours, that they are not abandoning you.
You are strong. You can do this.
Breathe,
Logan

Don't Lie to Me.
Honestly. We're college students. Be mature.
Our suite toilet was plugged, but it was still flushing, just the water was low in the bowl. It had been like that since last night and was still that way this morning. So, suitemates, don't be saying that you unplugged it last night so it was now my turn to unplug it. I know you didn't plunge it. I honestly don't mind plunging the toilet now that I know how (thanks Dad!), but let's not lie about what you did or didn't do.
Thanks.
